Podiatrist (Foot and Ankle Specialist) Questions Podiatrist

Ankle discomfort?

It's my ankle on my right foot. I got stepped on playing soccer 2 months ago pretty bad. It was extremely swollen and couldn’t walk for 1-2 days basically. After rest and icing for the next couple of weeks, swollen was reduced. It’s still swollen, but not as bad as it was before. Whenever I run I do get major discomfort. I want to go to the doctor, but Im sure it’s not broken which I feel like I’ll just be wasting money to be told “keep icing it” or something. I’ve tried creams and ice and rest, etc. My question is what should I do if my inner right ankle is still swollen and I have major discomfort when I run?

please seek the consult of orthopedic or podiatrist asap. likely need mri to get to know the diagnosis of cause.
Looks like a bad bruise to the posterior tibial tendon. If the bone is tender could be a bone bruise or small fracture as well.Tendon injuries tend to linger.Try ice and elevation.Get an ankle wrap when walking.
It can be difficult for experienced physicians to differentiate between severe ankle sprains and small fractures. I would recommend a visit to a local orthopedist to evaluate your ankle with an x-ray, and to check your ankle for ligamentous laxity, which could require more aggressive treatment.
I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) ASAP for evaluation and treatment options. This seems to be a tendon injury and needs to be evaluated
It is absolutely not a waste of your time to see a physician. You had a major trauma. It is possible that you broke a bone. It is possible you injured a tendon or ligament. I would most certainly recommend that you not only get x-rays, but if the injury is over 2 months old, you likely will need an MRI to examine the soft tissues and what structures you may have damaged/injured
See a foot/ankle specialist. They shouldn't just tell you to rest/ace/ice it.
