Antibiotics for candida in the ear?

I have been diagnosed with candida in my ear. My doctor prescribed ciproflaxin + dexamethasone ear drops for 5 days. The candida infection didn't go away so he prescribed me more of the same antibiotics. They told me that if they still didn't work they would need to put me in the third course of antibiotics. The second course didn't work. Now I'm afraid to see my doctor again. What treatment do you advise for candida infections in the ear? Thanks.

Wrong medication. Candida is a fungus. The ear canal needs to be throughly, microscopically cleaned with an acidic solution, e.g., Acetosol. Gentian violent can also be applied to canal skin and eardrum. Mycostatin powder can be puffed into the canal. Need to keep ear canal dry after. Will need re-cleaning every 3-5 days until clear. Does not sound like the person you are seeing is an otolaryngologist. I have used used Lotrimin drops for some cases.
Hello,

I would recommend seeing an ENT Specialist as this condition needs special cleaning and microdebriding of the ear canal under the microscope, and then application of appropriate topical antifungal agents.

It would be helpful to know your original ear symptoms, if you had any, and your current symptoms, if any. DO NOT take any more Cipro or dexamethasone drops. Steroids make fungus worse, not better. Antibiotics are effective.
Fungal infection in the ear usually is best treated by cleaning the ear thoroughly by an ENT and using either Vosol drops or clotrimazole drops.
