Avascular necrosis of the hip?

How is a diagnosis of avascular necrosis of the hip bone made along with osteoarthritis of the hip and does it rule out stem cell repair? Initially diagnosed after x-rays were taken. Subsequently, in order to confirm additional x-rays were taken 2 weeks later at another facility along with a Barium CT scan resulting in no avascular necrosis of the hip bone indicated and osteoarthritis was present as before.

X-ray can diagnose AVN of the hip when it is more advanced. MRI is considered the most accurate and most sensitive. If the degenerative joint disease of the hip is secondary to AVN of the hip this is considered to be the most advanced stage and generally requires a surgical hip replacement.
