Dermatologist Questions Abscess

Black spot under skin where abscess drained

I've had an abscess on my thigh for about a week. It finally drained on it'S own but there is a black spot under the skin where the puss came from. Common sense tells me it's just a blood clot to help with the healing but I just wanna make sure, there is still a small about of puss when I change the dressing but nothing to concerning. It's easier to walk now too and I feel better but I just don't know if it's infected.

The black spot may be a blood clot or part of the healing process, which is normal. Watch for signs of infection like redness, swelling, worsening pain, foul-smelling pus, or fever. Since you're feeling better, it's a good sign. Keep the area clean and change dressings regularly. If you’re unsure, schedule a consultation with Irvine Skin to ensure proper healing and expert care!
