Infectious Disease Specialist Questions Infectious Disease Specialist

COVID question?

I tested positive for COVID a week ago today. I've had milder symptoms, but feel pretty normal now. I was on Prednisone and azithromycin. Is the worst threat over at this point?

Yes, worse is usually in the first week.
Thanks for the question.
Unfortunately, the immune cytokines can kick in for a few weeks after initial infection, but they may not. You are contagious up to 12 days or so, as well. But the CDC guidelines say you can be out in public if you wear an N95 mask.

You should continue to get better. If you have been vaccinated and are improving 7 days out, I would spend no time worrying about it.
