My daughter is 9 years old and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Can 9-year-old get pancreatitis?

Pancreatitis can occur in kids after trauma such as hitting handlebar of a bike. Certain antibiotics or other medications can also precipitate an episode. Also may want to check child for T1 Diabetes onset.
Yes, it's possible, but the cause would be different than in adults. In adults, alcohol and gallstones are the main causes. In children, it would be more related to medications or hereditary causes. Sometimes pancreatitis is misdiagnosed, so be careful. An elevated lipase level is not sufficient to make the diagnosis.
