“Can I drink alcohol while on antibiotics?”
I am taking antibiotics for my infection. Can I drink alcohol while on antibiotics?

No. Alcohol makes antibiotics less effective and your infection may not be resolved completely, causing antibiotic resistance.
Combining alcohol with antibiotics can be risky and reduce the effectiveness of the treatment. Therefore, it is advisable to avoid alcohol consumption while taking antibiotics.

Drinking alcohol while on antibiotics can increase the side effects of the antibiotic, including nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness. It is also harder on the liver as this organ metabolized the antibiotic and filters alcohol. A toxicity can result.
