Cardiologist Questions

Can I drink caffeine?

I went to urgent care about 4 weeks ago for heart palpitations. I have had had a high resting heart rate for as long as I can remember (~100bpm resting). NP gave me a 2 week holter monitor and told me to not drink caffeine. My results were normal though, according to my doctors office. Results are attached below. Is it ok to drink caffeine now? I drink about 100mg about 4x a week in the form of tea.

Hi. So palpitations are your sense of your heart beating fast or irregular
The Holter monitor serves to verify whether your symptoms correspond with an abnormal heart rhythm
Per the monitor you had nothing significant
However if you had no symptoms while the monitor it may have been something, possibly related to caffeine if the symptoms resolved with cessation of caffeine

You should based on this be ae to resume caffeine but speak to your doctor and listen to your body. If they give you the go ahead and symptoms return then there is a correlation.
