Can I drive after getting the flu vaccine?

I will get the flu vaccine. Can I drive after getting the flu vaccine?

You will have to wait at least 15 minutes after the administration of the influenza vaccine, as they are monitoring for any allergic reactions - particularly anaphylaxis- which can be life threatening without immediate treatment. They also monitor for any adverse reactions which can range from redness or swelling of the injection site to syncope ( the loss of consciousness). Based on their post injection assessment, you could be cleared as early as 15 minutes, which then you are able to resume your routine daily activities- including driving. Unless something raises concerns, you would be observed for additional time. Stephanie
