The best outcome is removing both the cyst and the gland that caused the cyst. To prevent infection and damage to the tissue, do not try to open the sac yourself. Treatment should only be done by your provider. Oral surgeons and some dentists can remove the sac.
Please do not try and remove an oral cyst at home. This will require a minor surgery in a sterile environment where the risk of infection is lower. We also prescribe oral antibiotics so that you will not get infection. It is also better for the surgeon to remove the cyst to make sure that the entire cyst is removed, so that it does not come back.
