“Can I wear sunglasses after LASIK?”
I will have LASIK surgery. Can I wear sunglasses after LASIK?

Patients will feel light sensitive for at least 24 hours after LASIK so sunglasses are recommended. I always provide to my patients dark wrap around sunglasses immediately following their procedure. The next day, you no longer are required to wear sunglasses. In general, the nice thing is that you no longer need prescription sunglasses and you can purchase any pair you like. I recommend polarized sunglasses like Rayban and Maui Jim.
Yes. It is possible you will have some increased sensitivity to light after the cataract surgery. In most cased this will subside over time. However, you may wear sunglasses just as you did before surgery.

I would highly recommend that you wear sunglasses, always in order to protect your eyes and the skin around your eyes from the harmful UV A and UV B rays. Wearing sunglasses after LASIK serves a few important purposes. Sunglasses help to protect the eyes from impact or debris. Sunglasses might prevent a branch from poking you in the eye or dirt or dust from flying into the eye. Sunglasses can deter you from rubbing or scratching the eyes. Sunglasses reduce the amount of light getting to the eyes, decreasing light sensitivity.
