Yes lasik can correct astigmatism upto 5 diopters. We can also do femtosecond laser astigmatism correction to correct upto 7 diopters.
LASIK can absolutely correct astigmatism, even very severe degrees of astigmatism. Astigmatism is a "football shape" to the eye, which requires precise alignment of the treatment along the "laces". Today, lasers are equipped with sophisticated eye tracking systems that automatically center the treatment on the pupil and align the astigmatism for incredible results.
