Radiologist (Pediatric) Questions Rashes

Can a CT Scan cause rashes for a child?

My son underwent a CT Scan, and the next day he developed a rash across his chest. Is it possible that it could cause rashes for him?

The CT scan itself should not cause a rash. Intravenous contrast can cause a rash and may be a sign your child is allergic to the contrast. You should let your doctor know this occurred because if further imaging with contrast is needed, your child may require premeditation to prevent further reactions.
