“Can a CT scan with contrast detect kidney stones?”
I will have a CT scan with contrast for kidney stones. Is it safe? Can it detect kidney stones?

With the contrast material which is dense or bright on the CT, small calcified stones which appear also dense may not be visual and difficult to see due to the overlying dense contrast material. To visualize stones in the kidney, a non-contrast CT Scan is usually performed.
