Can a bipolar person live without medication?

I was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. I don't want to take medications because it makes me gain weight.

Hello, Medication has been found to be very helpful in treating Bipolar Disorder. While I understand it is an individual choice to engage in such therapy. I advise you to discuss your concerns with your psychiatrist. There may be another medication that can work better for you or they can provide you with alternative options of other treatments in the event you discontinue your medication.
