My daughter is stuttering. Can a child overcome stuttering?

Hello! Yes, children can overcome stuttering, especially if they have good speech therapy intervention. That being said, many former stutterers may continue to stutter in certain situations (e.g., public speaking, when they are tired). The main goal for speech therapy with stuttering is to make speaking less effortful - teaching strategies to reduce tension in the speech mechanism and to practice more fluent speech as well as self-advocacy. Hopefully, that answers your question. Susan Smith susan@tribecca.net
Potentially, sometimes therapy can completely resolve stuttering, though sometimes people stutter to a point throughout their lives. The earlier intervention is suggested
