Acupuncture cannot fix herniated disc, but it can largely reduce the pain. You need to put the herniated disc back to its normal position by either chiropractic adjustment or Chinese bone-setting (a kind of similar to regular chiropractic adjustment but with much stronger push so you have a temporary strong pain when the disc comes back to its spot, and in most of the cases you can walk with minimal pain after the bone-setting). Acupuncture cannot repair something that is damaged. Acupuncture can help to reduce the pain and relax the muscles surrounding the injury. If the symptoms are: sciatica, low back pain and numbness, but they don't have to be all present, then acupuncture can help to treat those symptoms. The human body has the capability to adapt to an injury, it is usually just a question of time. Alexandre Hillairet, DAOM. Doctor of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. 2660 E. Hello and Thank you for your question. Acupuncture is beneficial in treating all kinds of back pain. In the case of herniated discs, relieving the inflammation and pressure on the discs dramatically decreases the pain locally and reduces compression on the surrounding nerves. Needles are placed near the area of herniation to promote healthy blood flow, diminishing inflammation and promoting healing and pain relief. At your first treatment session, we create a comprehensive treatment plan specific to your injury, pain level, tolerance for lying on the table, etc. to enable you to receive the best care possible, including whatever modalities best suit you. For example, electro-stimulation of the needles, cupping, massage and gua she, as well as infra-red heat, hot pads and topical liniments and herbal plasters might also be recommended additions to your acupuncture treatment. Your ability to lie comfortably for treatment will continue to improve and help you regain your functionality and range of motion while minimizing the need for oral pain relievers.
Disc herniation occurs when the gel-like inner core of a spinal disc protrudes through the outer layer, causing pain, numbness, or weakness in the back, legs, or arms. Acupuncture can aid in managing this pain by triggering the release of endorphins (natural painkillers) and enhancing blood flow to the affected region.
That’s a great question. Acupuncture can help relieve the pain, neuropathy, and muscle spasms that are common when people have herniated discs. There is not any evidence that acupuncture can “fix” a herniated disc. I have seen patients become asymptomatic with minor disc herniations. And acupuncture has been shown to reduce pain, reduce the need for pain medications, and increase function until patients can get scheduled for surgery. Then after surgery many orthopedic surgeons and patients are happily surprised how quickly they recover with acupuncture.
Acupuncture can reduce inflammation and pain which are results of disc herniation.
Massage, acupuncture and herbs can help you out for disc hernia pain gradually.
Yes.
Pain due to a herniated disc can be effectively reduced by regular acupuncture treatment, plus therapeutic massage can help bring healing to the nerves and spine, and help prevent future problems with herniated disc and sciatica.

Fix a herniated disk? Probably Not.

Relieve the pain and inflammation associated with the herniated disk? Yes.
Yes, acupuncture can fix herniated discs but you need to find good doctors.
yes,
I have treated many people who have pain from herniated disks. I don't know if I actually fix the disc, but I do know that I can get them out of pain. I would definitely seek out an acupuncturist near you.
