Chronic cough can certainly be a nuisance, but acupuncture is a fantastic holistic solution. Understanding the root cause is key, as treatment may vary. Whether it's post-nasal drip, asthma, or GERD, acupuncture targets the underlying issue, providing relief and restoring respiratory health. Say goodbye to coughing fits and hello to easier breathing with acupuncture!

Yes acupuncture works great to strengthen the energy (qi) of the lungs. There are points to help with cough also. Kathy Martin, MS.Ac. Beach Acupuncture
Acupuncture can possibly help the cough and/or your tolerance of having an ongoing cough, it is worth at try. Acupuncture points which may be helpful, depending on your presentation, may include lung points (lung 1, lung 5, etc) , digestion points including spleen or stomach points, and possible kidney points. Other acupuncture points can be helpful too. Chronic conditions can take longer for a response vs. acute so keep this in mind. Make sure you bring any diagnosis of your cough and other health conditions to your provider.
Addressing chronic cough, in my professional opinion, is straightforward in Eastern medicine. The best approach is a combination of specific acupuncture points and specific herbs which work immediately. An experienced practitioner should know what to do.
It would be important to know what is causing the chronic cough. I would not try acupuncture as a first treatment. A chronic cough could be serious. I would first see an MD who can listen to your lungs, order an xray, and prescribe an appropriate medication if needed.

First, we need to know the cause of the cough, then create an effective treatment plan.
