Can an ankle brace help with pain?

I have ankle pain and want to fix it. Can an ankle brace help with pain?

It might but I would seek a professional opinion if the brace is not curative, quickly.
It all depends on what is causing the pain. If it is tendinitis or a sprained ankle, the ankle brace would be helpful but may not be the only care you need. If on the other hand the pain is caused by a tumor of one sort or another, then the brace is no good. Plus waiting to get a definitive diagnosis may not be in your favor.
An ankle brace can be beneficial. Depending on the type of injury or damage to the ankle will depend on what type of ankle brace. This can give support, but it may not resolve condition, long-term. Would recommend x-rays and evaluation of the ankle joint. Jonathan M. Kletz, DPM Texas Foot WorksDallas, Athens and Gun Barrel City Texas214-340-8885
Hi! This all depends on what the actual problem is with the ankle. Bracing is effective for pain, especially after a sprain.
Hello, Thank you for your question. We have to evaluate you and take foot x-rays if needed.
Yes, sometimes limiting the motion of a joint or controlling the foot and ankle motion to calm down other issues, such as tendonitis, can significantly be helped by used of an ankle brace
I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon )podiatrist) for diagnosis of the pain and treatment options
The answer to your question is "it depends on what caused the pain". Pain is just a symptom, there is an underlying cause, if the underlying cause can be treated effectively by a brace, then the pain should go away. however, if the underlying cause is severe or damage structures, likely the brace will not help. therefore, I would ask that you see a local podiatrist or orthopedist and seek to know what the cause of the pain is.
