There are some infections that the body can fight off, but not all, and you take the risk of permanent scarring or other problems if it really needs to be treated.

Usually viral infections go away on their own , but they still require symptomatic Tx. Bacterial , fungal infections etc. need treatment
A complete ophthalmologic exam should be performed to determine the cause of your symptoms.
