Bone spur such as the one with the heel bone is actually ossification of the tendinous attachment to the bone and need not and should not be surgically removed. All you need to do is to have your doctor to treat the associated focal inflammation as the cause of pain and ambulation difficulty. stepping on and rolling a gulf ball under your foot or have a steroid injection may resolve your symptoms.
While bone spurs cannot be removed without surgery, the pain associated with the spur can be treated. A bone spur on the bottom of the heel, for example, can be a sign that there is excess tension on the plantar fascia and the plantar fascia is actually the area causing pain, not the bone spur itself. Plantar fasciitis is traditionally resolved with non-surgical treatment and removing the bone spur on the heel is largely unnecessary.
Bone spurs can be removed by surgery. I recommend you make an appointment with a foot and ankle surgeon (podiatrist) for treatment options
No. Bone can not be removed without surgery. There are no injections or chemicals that can be injected into a living being to dissolve or get rid of existing bone.
No, bone spurs don't hurt. The painful condition caused the spur to form. The spur is an X-ray sign, not a disease. The disease needs to be diagnosed and treated to help the pain.
