Braces increase the requirement for great oral hygiene. Bad oral hygiene can cause cavities.
Yes and no, the actually braces or aligners do not cause cavities, but the cleaning and oral hygiene of the teeth are even more important to step up and be more diligent in the care when doing any orthodontic work. If any questions please call your orthodontist or dentist who placed the braces or aligners. It might be advisable to go to the dentist more than twice a year for normal cleanings and check ups.
Braces with wire and brackets get food stuck around them. If you dont take extra care to keep them clean, you are more prone to get decay and cavities. Braces dont cause cavities; poor hygiene and high sugar diets do. Invisalign is easier to keep clean.
Braces won't cause cavities if they are placed properly by a Certified Orthodontic office and the patient follows brushing and flossing instructions. Hope this helps!
Braces don't cause cavities! Your failure to perform meticulous oral hygiene causes cavities. It is harder to clean your teeth and gums with braces in place. You should brush, floss, use a waterpik multiple times a day and rinse your mouth out frequently especially after snacks. Avoid soda pop and sports beverage because of their high sugar content.
