Can braces get rusted?

I have braces on my teeth to straighten them out, but in the mirror, my braces look a little rusted. Is this possible?

Brackets are made of a special material so they can't rust. Wires and brackets can collect food. That's why you are told to keep your braces clean and brush your teeth. You can floss your teeth with the help of floss threaders.
