“Can cavities in small children get serious?”
My son is 4 years old and has been detected with 3 cavities due to excessive sweet eating habit. Can this become serious in the future once he has permanent teeth?

Yes, it can be very serious a this age and can influence the growth and general health of your child. Beby teeth can have big infections that can spread, they can have cysts that may shift position of adult teeth with consequences. Baby teeth caries can harbor bacteria that can harm adult teeth as they come out in mixed dentition. Baby teeth needs to be treated and better eating habits need to be followed.
Yes, I would definitely recommend having the cameras look down because they can affect the health of the child and also can affect the developing teeth underneath.
Yes, consuming excessive sweets at your son's age can cause serious problems with his permanent dentition. He should be check to determine the severity of his carious teeth.
ABSOLUTELY: 1. Do you want to see a child suffer toothache pain or infection? Premature loss of teeth is one of the three major causes for needing or complicating orthodontic care.
Yes, absolutely! That’s why it’s important to teach proper tooth care and dietary control of sugar containing foods. Make sure a pediatric dentist sees the child regularly.
If he has an excessive sweet eating habit his permanent teeth could develop cavities the same way his baby teeth did. Also the baby teeth need to be treated for the cavities. If they are not he could develop a tooth ache. The infection in an untreated baby tooth could spread and infect the adult teeth which are sitting just below the baby teeth in his jaw.
