“Can glaucoma be detected in an eye test?”
I am a 57 year old female. I wonder if glaucoma can be detected in an eye test?

In most cases a couple of simple tests can detect various types of glaucoma or even pure glaucoma.

Glaucoma testing is part of a complete eye exam, but simply checking your vision on an eye chart and measuring you for glasses will not determine if you have glaucoma or not.
Yes. Glaucoma can be detected in a visual field test as well as an OCT, ophthalmic examination and intraocular pressure check.
Yes. That is how glaucoma is diagnosed. As a matter of fact, today’s
advanced technology allows us to diagnose at very early stages even before
any symptoms occur.

To diagnose glaucoma certain tests need to be done. These include a complete eye exam with dilation, visual field examination, intraocular pressure, gonioscopy, and optic nerve head OCT.
