I will have a liver biopsy. Can liver biopsy be done with local anesthesia?

Yes it can. However, I generally do all my biopsies with conscious sedation using fentanyl and versed it is a much better patient experience have been doing the same for the last 20 years. Parvez Mantry MD
You will receive a local anesthetic at the biopsy site. Sometimes, general anesthesia depending on the type of lesion. Thank you.
