The most important thing to do immediately on day one is isometric exercises (the ankle doesn't move) isometric exercises do not cause ligament inflammation so they are safe to do right away.
Be careful with an aggressive massage. An over-the-counter cloth ankle brace might help. Otherwise, consult with your local podiatrist.
