Is microfracture surgery painful?

I will have knee microfracture surgery. I am afraid. Is it painful?

Yes, all Surgery is painful. We are cutting into tissues and causing injury.
As with all surgery, it can be. I put all my patients on a standard preventive pain mangement regimen that includes tylenol and Aleve around the clock. In addition, my anesthesiologists do an adductor canal block which blocks 70-80% of the pain for 24 hours.
No matter what surgery you have, your pain will be properly controlled
Yes, but with proper pain control it should be fairly tolerable
It is no more painful than a knee arthroscopy with a menisectomy. Most people have pain that requires narcotics for 2-3 days.
Hope it helps!!
