Depending on the underlying cause of your sore throat, lozenges can help soothe the throat. If you develop a fever, difficulty swallowing, or notice white patches in the back of your throat, seek medical care immediately. Ibuprofen or tylenol can help with throat pain, follow directions on the bottles. Check with your physician or nurse practitioner if other symptoms occur.
