“Can my braces ever rust?”
Braces are made of steel and I am wondering if they can ever start rusting?

Some braces are made of stainless steel, which will not rust. There are also ceramic and plastic versions of braces as well.
The metal used for all orthodontic brackets are not subject to rust. Many times, they are also made from ceramics which also are rustproof.
It is highly unlikely that your braces would rust, as they are usually constructed of materials that are corrosion resistant. If you have any concerns or any part of your braces appear to be discoloring, you should make an appointment with your orthodontist and have them check it.
Braces cannot rust because they are surgical stainless steel. But they could tarnish and cause problems with bad breath and even cavities around the margins of the appliances, which can be very painful and very expensive. You need to practically live in the bathroom with a toothbrush when you have braces.
