I have sciatica and have felt back pain since I was 10. Can sciatica be cured by physiotherapy?

Yes
Controlled, not cured. The cause of the sciatica is the problem.
Good day,

I am so sorry to hear that. First, I will need you to describe how your pain radiates from your back to your leg. Also, if it is sciatica, it could be alleviated by physiotherapy and any exercise that strengthens the back muscles. However, during an acute episode, it is better to rest. Over time, you may need more treatment, like an intraspinal corticosteroid injection and, as a last resort, surgery. Try physiotherapy and strengthening back muscles first though.
The short answer is yes! However, it does depend on the specific cause of the sciatica. If you have an anatomical abnormality that is the root cause, then it might not be fixable by PT. Most likely that is not the case. A formal evaluation will be needed and it might take trial and error to help alleviate your symptoms.
Sometimes. Usually the issue is instability of the spine. Weakness of the ligaments leads to nerves being compressed. That’s what we specialize in at our office. Don’t procrastinate about this.
Sciatica represents pain down a person's leg along the sciatic nerve. Usually caused by an injured disc or bone spurs in the spine in the low back. This is almost never seen in a 10-year-old. There is some structural cause other than a ruptured disc and will probably not respond to physical therapy.
