“Can surgery fix periodontitis?”
I have periodontitis and want to treat it. Can surgery fix periodontitis?

Periodontitis is CONTROLLED with appropriate home care first, the debridement and medications then surgery if still necessary, then maintenance appointments usually at 3-month intervals. Hope this helps. There is no "cure", just control.
It depends on the severity of your condition. Ideally, a nonsurgical approach may be initially indicated to correct mild forms of periodontitis. Good oral hygiene is essential to maintain the progress made with nonsurgical therapy. Surgery is the last resort but even after surgery good oral hygiene is critical, you have to be true to your teeth or they will be false to you.
