Periodontitis is CONTROLLED with appropriate home care first, the debridement and medications then surgery if still necessary, then maintenance appointments usually at 3-month intervals. Hope this helps. There is no "cure", just control.

Good oral hygiene is essential to maintain the progress made with nonsurgical therapy.
