Speech therapy is a great benefit to those that stutter. The reason for stuttering is different for everyone and is often coupled with treatment from a licensed mental health therapist as anxiety has been found to often time tie closely to stuttering.

There is no cure for true stuttering. Children can start to stutter when very young or be perceived to stutter, then recover but this is really more of a development process rather than true stuttering. If by age 6 your child is still "stutter" or you are concerned that it could be true stuttering, it's best to have your child evaluated.
