“Can you get nerve damage from shoulder surgery?”
I am a 38 year old male. I wonder if you can get nerve damage from shoulder surgery?

Yes--including damage to the axillary nerve, the axillary plexus, etc)--can occur due to direct surgical nerve damage or to nerve "stretching" that may happen with certain positions the shoulder may be in to facillitate the surgery. Healing may take up to a year or so, though in rare instances it may be permanent.
