I will have a colonoscopy. Can you have a colonoscopy without anesthesia?

You can, but I would not recommend it. Propofol will make the experience much, much more pleasant. That is how I had my colonoscopy done :)
It is possible to have a colonoscopy without anesthesia. It is much more comfortable for you when sedate. Ask your endoscopist if it may influence his/her ability to obtain the same information during the exam asleep versus awake. That is an important question. It is a risk benefit question for anesthesia depending on your preoperative risk factors as well. Speak with your doctors to obtain the best answer.
