I have throbbing pain after a root canal. Can you stop throbbing pain after a root canal?

You can take medication for pain after a RCT.
If the root canal was done recently within the past couple of days, pain is expected, and can be controlled with pain medication like Ibuprofen. However; if the root canal was done previously the tooth has to be examined by the dentist
Alternating 400 mg of ibuprofen every 2 hours with 2 Tylenol usually works well if you don't have any problems with the medications. It will be generally quite sore to any kind of pressure for a week to ten days, so avoid chewing on that side for that time. If you simply cannot put your teeth together without pain, your dentist may have to adjust the bite to allow for more rapid healing. Good luck! Dr. Michael Conrad

If you can take ibuprofen, that plus acetaminophen is best. And call your endodontist if the throbbing persists.
