Depends. It could be fungal, herpes or Angular cheilitis. If it’s not herpes, a non alcohol lip balm works. Herpes needs antivirals or something to dry lesion out. Fungal needs an anti fungal.
sores in the corner of the mouth are typically known as angular chelitis and is not herpes. keep area clean and dry.. apply antifungal ointments or antibiotic creams, avoid licking. stay hydrated, use lip balm, take vitamins, avoid irritating foods. should get better.

You can have a blood test done to verify if you have a herpetic lesion. If the sore reappears you can have a doctor evaluate for more treatment. Laser treatment can also help in aid in the reduction of the viral load.
If you are sure it is not a herpetic cold sore, it may be *angular cheilitis* which is usually the result of a localized a fungal infection and can be treated with an ointment that combines and antifungal with a topical steroid.
If there were vehicles, little blisters, before crusting over, it does sound like herpes. There are vitamin deficiencies and occasionally yeast can cause non blistering sores at the corners of the mouth
Yes, it might be herpes. Usually occurs on the borders of the lip, forming a bubble that eventually pops and resolves, lasting 1-3 weeks. Go to your dentist for evaluation. It is very contagious, especially when the bubble pops, and you can get a prescription which can be helpful if that is the case.
