Diabetes blood test different meter answers?

I tested by blood (first thing morning) with 3 strips one right after each other and got 3 different answers. All 3 tests from the fingertip stick are 99,109,123. Meter and supplies are brand new. Why would that happen?

Meters can vary by about 15% sometimes. Depends on the accuracy of your meter. Those are all within the below 126 range which is the Fasting blood sugar used to define diabetes mellitus You action would be the same for all of those numbers. that is if you are are already diagnosed and on insulin your dose should be the same.
Dear Patient,

There is a variability of 15 % of sugar values in each machine provided all proper supplies used as stated. The 109 and 123 value are a bit off the usual mark. I have asked patients to bring machine to office and test venous blood against glucometer value. This is usually a value of 15% or less and generally does not interfere with treatment choices.

Well, firstly, the finger stick test is not that accurate, but that is still a large difference. Even though new, the strips may b defective or the problems in the machine that reads them. Different concentrations of blood from the stick may produce a false reading as well.
