Blockages in the coronary arteries are fixed with either stents or surgery. The indications for each is very well described. Surgery is usually indicated for patients with multiple blockages, blockages in a specific artery (left main coronary artery), patients with diabetes, and those with hearts that are not functioning properly
I am not sure what blockage just you have however most chronic artery disease can be fixed with stenting and last all modification unless so severe then the patient will need open heart surgery
I can provide some general information. The need for surgery or other interventions to treat heart artery blockage can vary depending on several factors such as the severity of the blockage, the symptoms you are experiencing, and whether there are any complications. Your doctor will be able to evaluate your specific situation and recommend the most appropriate treatment option for you. It may include surgery such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) or percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) using stents.
Surgery would depend on the percentage of blockage.
Your heart Doctor would be the one that could answer that question for you. I am guessing s/he is the one that told you you have a blockage. The doctor would have also told you the percentage of blockage. So the answer is also dependent on the percentage the artery is blocked.
More than likely.
