Do braces scratch your gums?

I will get braces. Do braces scratch your gums?

The wires occasionally bend and can scratch the gums. If this happens, see your dentist or orthodontist.
Although braces may not scratch your gums, they may very well scratch the inside of your lips or cheeks. If that happens, you may need to apply Ortho Wax onto the rough area that is scratching until your provider can remedy the situation.
Braces can sometimes scratch, that is why many times we recommend ortho wax to be placed over the bothersome brackets. Another alternative is clear aligners.
If you have a broken or loose wire, it may scratch your gums. See your orthodontist correctly.
Are you getting brackets and wires, traditional braces, or aligners? Occasionally braces scratch inside the cheeks. Rare aligners can scratch the gums.
