Pink eye can be caused by a virus, bacteria, irritation from foreign body or allergy or even an autoimmune process. Eye drops that are specific to the cause of the pink eye may be helpful in diminishing the signs and symptoms of the conjunctivitis ( inflammation of the conjunctiva). Rona Z. First, it helps to know what the cause is of the conjunctivitis (pink eye). Pink eye can be caused commonly by bacteria, viral, or fungal infections in the eye. Artificial tears may provide relief, but don't treat pink eye. You must visit an eye doctor and get a valid prescription to treat the pink eye depending on the cause
determined by your eye specialist.
