Do they put a tube down your throat for general anesthesia?

I am a 30 year old male. I want to know if they put a tube down your throat for general anesthesia?

There is No Need to put endotrael tube It can be done with LMA
When you are rendered unconscious for general anesthesia, your airway is usually secured with an endotracheal tube, or a supraglottic device such as a laryngeal mask airway (LMA) is placed. An LMA is situated in the back of the throat. Both techniques allow for the delivery of anesthetic gases.
In standard practice, an endotracheal tube is placed into the wind pipe. Another device that is used is called the LMA. It all depends on the type of surgery you are going to have.
