I will have gum graft surgery. Do they put you to sleep for gum graft surgery?

No. I have had no patients receive general anesthesia for this surgery. Check with your doctor.

General anesthesia is not really needed for a minor procedure like gum graft. It could be done under local infiltration anesthesia
Yes you can be put to sleep for a gum graft surgery. Sedation comes in many forms. Nitrous oxide or more commonly known as laughing gas will reduce your anxiety. Oral sedation requires prescription sleeping medication to be taken the day of surgery. You are still awake but are sedated. IV sedation is the highest level. The level of sedation should be discussed with your surgeon before the scheduled surgery date.
