You need to see an MD or NP for an assessment and may need a CXR. You do not want an antibiotic for a regular cold..rhinovirus. You may need COVID, FLU, RSV tests as well. Given the triple epidemic going on it is best to follow up with your primary or urgent care.
Not necessarily. You need to use all the home remedies to fight a cough. Being tested for the flu, RSV, or a home Covid test would help identify your next step. If positive for influenza, an antiviral like Tamiflu prescribed by your physician could help lessen the length of time and
severity of symptoms. If positive for Covid you would need to call your Dr. and possibly get an antiviral if caught in the early stages. In most cases, the symptom will eventually go away. If you have a cough that's not getting better and/or you're having difficulty breathing you need an evaluation from a care provider.
