I will have root canal surgery. I want to know if you stay overnight after a root canal?

No you do not, the procedure generally takes 30min to 2 hrs depending on the tooth and who is performing the procedure.

After you had root canal surgery, you should take all of the necessary medication prescribed by your dentist, and rest and sleep. Please do not stay up overnight.
I’ve been endodontist for almost 20 yrs, the objective of doing such treatments is to remove the cause of infection (problem in general) always consider the complications after the surgery which can be avoided or minimize it by medications

No, it’s usually done in the office.
No. You arrive at office and the endodontist will numb you up and drill a small hole through the bone around tooth root and clean it out. The whole procedure should take no more than 90 minutes. You go home with pain medication and antibiotics. A little sore for a few days, but not as bad as it sounds!
