Urologist Questions Urologist

Does a urine test registering Leucocyte Esterase +3 mean infection?

My UA revealed leucocyte esterase +3 and blood in urine +3. I assume that is abnormal. Is it dangerous?

Depending on the quality of the specimens you collected infection can not be excluded.
You need to see your Urologist for further evaluation and treatment.
It may indicate the you have a urinary tract infection.
Thank you for contacting FATD about 3+ in leukocyte esterase. This alone, one needs to know and have microscopic urinalysis to check if there are leukocyte or/& erythrocytes and others. Besides, history-taking and physical examination are mandatory to derive reasonable conclusion. To assist you doing so, please take the time to read and understand the contents at https://www.foralm.com/blog/categories/how-to-handle-sickness. Not necessarily. What it is indicative of is that they were white cells in the urine. What you need is a urine culture to prove that you do not have an infection and if you do not then I would get an ultrasound of your kidneys and bladder to look for a possible stone.
