I am a 43 year old male. I want to know if radiation shortens your life?

If radiation is given to a malignant tumor it should lengthen your life. If you are exposed to radiation that is not for treatment, that radiation, like the effects of an atomic bomb, would definitely shorten your life.
Radiation treatment should not shorten your life if you receive radiation treatment for cancer. It supposes to improve quality of life (relieve pain, stop bleeding or compression of from cancer and prolong your life by controlling the cancer

Cancer is a progessive terminal disease, unless it is treated before it spreads. Radiation therapy is X-ray beams precisely aimed at the cancer. It helps people live longer.
