“Avascular necrosis staging?”
Is it possible to determine the stage of AVN these x-rays show? First diagnosed in 1998, these x-rays are from 2020. Thank you.

I would say the findings are at least intermediate given the well formed serpentine white lines overlying the femoral head. The medial (inside) of the femoral head may have an abnormal step off, which can indicate articular collapse and therefore advanced changes. Also, there does appear to be advanced arthritis super imposed upon AVN. Time to go see a hip surgeon.

You have severe osteoarthritis of the hip...the staging of avascular..necrosis can be better determined by mri study...
