Ear, Nose and Throat Doctor (ENT) Questions Nose bleeds

Dots of blood in nose

I keep my inside nose very moist and use humidifier at night. But every 3-4 days I see a couple dots of blood in my nose. I’m afraid this will become a nose bleed and it’s giving me anxiety

Using an “over the counter”. (Non Prescription) antibiotic ointment (such as Bacitracin) twice daily inside the nose should take care of this problem. In the winter, the dry air in your home from your heater may be making this worse—do not keep your rooms overheated.
Keep a bottle of afrin in your bathroom cabinet. If you do have a nosebleed, spray 2-3 sprays in the nose and squeeze pressure on the soft part of the nose for 5 minutes. This will usually stop the nose bleed.
Keeping the nose moist is helpful. Use aquaphor ointment in the nose with a q tip at night to help with moisture.
