Foreskin retraction post frenuloplasty?

My husband was diagnosed with frenulum breve after developing pain during erections. He had a frenuloplasty operation to reduce the tension which solved the issue.

It is now two months later and he has noticed that his foreskin has started to retract by itself, continually exposing the sensitive head of the penis and causing him discomfort. He can easily manually return it to its former natural position, but over time it retracts again and bunches behind the head. Is this a common side effect and can we do anything to prevent it happening as this wasn't mentioned prior to the operation?
